English Placement Test (EPT)

 

The EPT must be taken and passed at a certain level before a student may enroll in Written Communication IA, IB or the Humanities Program. Students who do not qualify for English 1A must enroll in non-baccalaureate Academic English courses (LLD 1 or 2) taught by LINGUISTICS & LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT to secure appropriate preparation to enroll in IA. A list of exemptions from the test appears in the SJSU Catalog and Schedule of Classes. The test is given three times per year with the ELM. Failure to take the test may result in Administrative Probation.
