How do I register for an OU online class?

 

 1) If you are one of the following:

  • Non-matriculated undergraduate student

  • Non-matriculated post baccalaureate student

  • Undergraduate student who was enrolled in Open University Spring 2008

Follow these steps: 

(Please scroll down to next section if you are none of the above)

Step 1

For new students. Returning students go to step 2.

Go to http://my.sjsu.edu/ to create your ID and password.

Visit http://online.sjsu.edu/ to view online class details and professor
contact information

Step 3


Email professor to ask for permission to enroll in the class. If space is available, the professor will e-mail you allowing you to add the class.

To give access to the class, the professor will give you a guest account. You will access the course via the guest account until June 9.

Step 4

Using 5-digit class number, enroll in your class beginning June 9, 2008 (Earlier enrollment will not be accepted).

After you enroll in your class, you can then use your 9-digit MySJSU ID  to access the course.

•   Note that late registration incurs additional fees and procedures. Refer to the OU calendar for deadlines and late fees.

Pay fees after registering for the class
• Billing statements will not be sent. Failure to pay fees may
      result in classes being dropped. It is important that you pay
      by the due date to prevent your classes from being dropped.
• Refer to payment form for payment options and instructions
• Payment is due upon registration

 

2) If you are:

  • An Open university student, undergraduate or graduate, who wishes to take graduate level courses

  • A regular students who was disqualified at the end of the Spring 2008 semester

Follow these steps:

Visit http://online.sjsu.edu/ to view online class details and professor
contact information

Step 2


Email professor to ask for permission to enroll in the class. If space is available, the professor will e-mail you allowing you to add the class.

To give access to the class, the professor will give you a guest account. You will access the course via the guest account until June 9.

Step 3

Print out registration form at http://ou.sjsu.edu/forms/spring-2008-reg-form.pdf 

Fill out form completely.

Step 4

Obtain approval of the Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research by faxing the form to 408-924-2612 if you are taking a 200-level course. Exclusions for enrollment in 200-level classes: (1) disqualified students and (2) those who were denied admission into a graduate program.

Step 5


Beginning June 9, 2008, fax the completed registration form with a copy of an e-mail from the instructor granting permission to add class to 408-924-2077 or submit the form in person at the Office of the Registrar in the Student Services Center. (Earlier submission will not be accepted).

After you enroll in your class, you can then use your 9-digit MySJSU ID  to access the course.
